I Heard You Say by Celeste Labadie
The discovery of love begins here.
It begins every time we breath in,
every time we breath out.
The discovery of love begins here.
In the belly, in the womb of life,
in the hand that caresses your skin,
in the song that moves your feet to dance.
You and I travel a river where someone
keeps saying, just around the bend.
Where the heron keeps us on track and
the subtle flute can conjure birdsong.
With you, I have found the discovery of love
ripe with newness. It is a love that cannot
be undone by distance. It is the love that
can bloom in the rockiest of soils because
we are both the water and the Sun.
I heard you say, "The discovery of love
begins here".
It travels without feet or gasoline.
It is the purest expression of creation,
the practice of eternal beginnings.
