The inspiration for this painting comes from the story of David and Bathsheba. David, the king is lounging on his roof spying on Bathsheba as she takes a bath on her own roof (Roof-top bathing was the custom in those days).
Bathsheba is unaware of David (as the peeping tom), and is rising from her refreshing cool bath. She is luxuriating in the feeling of the bath and her own sexuality.
Janice Sapp has captured this feeling perfectly and this painting reflected all the aspects of Fire in our theme for this month. See more of Janice's work in Moondance Arts.
Moondance would like to thank Janice Sapp for contributing such wonderful pieces to grace our pages.
