"Sunset"

WEEK-DAY MORNING

<

Brown dog shivering
before white radiator,
sighs, turns round, nestles
into the easy comfort
of lover's discarded dressing-gown.

Children off to school
Door slams after the eldest,
his undone homework
left on the breakfast table
"I forgot it," he will say.

Shopping to be done
cleaning, cooking, washing - a
new day beginning;
Get going, woman! This time,
do something extra with it.

Christine lives at the edge of the beautiful Pennine hills under the flightpath of incoming jumbos heading for Manchester Airport. She makes exquisite Honiton bobbin lace when not being a bored household technician.
