"Whose Woods Are These?"

Modus Operandi

I will drop your name
sparingly
with mutual acquaintances

write you every now and then
about our common loves:
millipedes, moon jellies
dichotomy, legumes.

I will have your linden tree
exhale my perfume,
a dragonfly
etch my face
in the air before your eyes.

Leigh Smith is married, the mother of four, and an in-home nursing assistant. In her free time, she likes to whisper with the wood sprites, skinny skip in lunar light, and mind meld with the moss.
