a Ribera (On the River's Bank)

Rosa Clement

Red beach in Pescadero, Maria Kazanskaya, Summer 1994

Na tarde ando sozinha
pelo caminho do rio, para ver meu amor,
e sigo sem nenhum pudor
ao prazer dos meus pes descalcos.
Com perfume de acucenas,
deixo o sol beijar minha pele morena
e em fogo vou a cantar
uma cancao de femea...

E assim, perfumada e quente,
chego pela mesma ladeira,
e para ele na ribeira,
livro meu corpo de censuras.
E sem descansar do passeio,
com o vento frio a beijar meus seios,
fito seu rosto sentindo
nas mornas aguas os ceus descendo....

I walk alone in the afternoon,
along the river's trail to see my love,
and I follow without any shyness

feeling the pleasure of walking on my bare feet.
With the perfume of wild flowers,
I let the sun kiss my brown skin
and in fire I walk and sing
a sweet song of females..

Perfumed and warm,
I arrive, smiling, along the same hill
and for him, on the river's bank,
I free my body of any censorship.

Now in serene steps,
letting cold winds kiss my breasts,
I admire his face but feeling
in the warm waters, the skies descending...
