Columns to the Stars
Cyberspace is much more
than a haven for hackers and teenaged gamesters. It's a place with room
for all kinds, and all ages.
All you have to do is
"tweak" your system, then add some reasonably priced peripherals to make
your computer run like a cheetah instead of a tired old housecat.
A place to pretend and
remember. . .to remove ourselves from mundane responsibilities and produce
our own fantasies. . .Enjoy the beauty of your imagination and your ability
to create a world where it is safe to pretend.
W. Shinder, M.D.
. . .at 40 or 50, we're
nowhere near ready to retire to our rocking chairs and pass the torch.
. . Mentally, emotionally and psychologically, many of us are at our peak.
But how do we deal with the. . . physical changes taking place?
. . .as my body conspires
to fail, my mind is reaching peak efficiency. So I'm falling apart, and
I know it. . . I don't have enough experience to be getting old. . . My
life is enriched with the blessings earned over half a lifetime.
I decided to face any
unexplored demons, to redouble my inner exploration. I wanted to be an
old woman whose face showed kindness, love, and wisdom. Menopause brought
me that gift.
According to some pessimistic
reports in the media, women over 40 in the job market face a challenge
only slightly less hopeless than that of ancient Christians thrown to the
lions. . . But . . "it ain't necessarily so."
